Bovec is a small town and the center of the tourist offer in the Soča river valley. The offer is also complemented by a sports airport and a circular cable car to the Kanin ski area. During the First World War, the front line between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies took place in Bovško and in the Soča valley. The battles left behind numerous forts, caves, trenches, remains and cemeteries, which today are connected by the Peace Path. Bovec and its surroundings are rich in natural and cultural heritage.
Triglav national park is the only national park in Slovenia. It was established in its modern form in 1981 and is located in the northwestern part of the country, respectively the southeastern part of the Alpine massif. Mount Triglav, the highest peak of the Julian Alps, stands almost in the middle of the national park. From there the valleys spread out radially, supplying water to two large river systems with their sources in the Julian Alps: the Soča and the Sava, flowing to the Adriatic and Black Sea, respectively.
The Soča Valley is the leading outdoor destination in Slovenia, it is a valley of action, festivals and discoveries. The emerald green river enables various water sports and numerous thematic trails run along the river that uncover the heritage of the First World War as well as other stories of the valley.
